William Harvey Crawford, age 82, a longtime resident of Somerville, Tennessee, passed away on May 25, 2026. He was born in Somerville, Tennessee, to the late William DeShield Crawford and Naomi Hortense (Tense) Pulliam Crawford.
He graduated from Somerville High School in Somerville, Tennessee, in 1961. He proudly served his country as a member of the Tennessee National Guard. Harvey worked for the state for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
He was a faithful member of Somerville First Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and community during his life.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife, Annie Elizabeth Paul Chambers Crawford of Big Spring, Texas; one daughter, Crystal Rose Crawford of Camden, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Raelynn Manning of Somerville, Tennessee, and Princeton Harvey Elmore of Camden, Tennessee; and those who also called him Papa: Dalton Dodson, Alyssa Wood, Brooklynn O'Brien, Gus O'Brien, and Paisley Nering. He is also survived by one brother, Thomas Edward Crawford (Pat) of Smyrna, Tennessee; his nephew, Ronald Crawford (Diane); and his nieces, Tabitha Baker (Kevin) and Tansy Raynor (Steve).
Harvey was preceded in death by his loving parents, William and Hortense Crawford.
Harvey enjoyed the farm he lived on—the cows, chickens, hogs, and rabbits, a good laugh, a joke pulled on a friend, horseback rides on Sunday afternoons with his friends: Henry Diffee, Jimmy Jordan, and others.
Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family. His strong work ethic, integrity, and devotion to those he loved, as the caregiver of his mother and father in their aging years.
Services for Mr. Crawford will be at 11, Tuesday morning, June 2, 2026, at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with interment at Somerville City Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10 to 11, Tuesday morning, June 2, 2026, at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland.
Thank you for the loving care and support throughout this journey from the NHC staff, Church of Christ family, First Baptist family, neighbors and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Berean Children's Home, the Carl Perkins Center, or the Somerville-Fayette County Friends of the Library.
