Beverly Houston Sturdivant, age 83, resident of the Fisherville Community and wife of William Sturdivant, departed this life Thursday morning, February 6, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.
Beverly was born October 6, 1936 in Germantown, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Alva Farley Houston and Dorothy Dare Rachel Houston. She was a graduate of Tech High School Class of 1954 and graduated from the University of Memphis, earning her nursing degree. She was employed as a registered nurse for many years before her retirement in 1998 and was a member of Fisherville First Baptist Church. Beverly enjoyed gardening and reading.
Mrs. Sturdivant is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Sturdivant; her daughter, Jan Armstrong (Guy) of Apex, NC; her son, William Sturdivant, Jr. of Walton, KY; her brother, Farley Houston (Maria) of Cincinnati, OH; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Martin Sturdivant and her brother, John Houston.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Sturdivant were held at 2 P.M. Monday, February 10, 2020 at the Fisherville First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff James, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment followed in the Fisherville Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Scott Sturdivant, Bradley Sturdivant, Brant Armstrong, Chase Armstrong, Farley Houston and Guy Armstrong.
