A graveside or committal service is held at the cemetery, either immediately following the funeral or as a small, intimate gathering for those closest to your family. Peebles handles all logistics and coordinates with the cemetery on your behalf.

Veterans Services

When a veteran's family selects a traditional funeral or memorial service at Peebles, the following are included at no additional charge: coordination of Military Honors at the chapel, another facility, or the cemetery; one hand pressed U.S. Flag; one premium wood flag case with a choice of available wood types; and one 6-inch U.S. Armed Forces Embroidered Emblem. These are provided at no charge because, as Peebles states in their General Price List, our veterans have already paid the price.

Peebles offers several cremation service options, from a full funeral ceremony before cremation to simple direct cremation. Each option can be personalized to reflect your loved one and your family's wishes.

Traditional Funeral Followed by Cremation

The Community Gathering combines a complete visitation and funeral service with cremation. A cremation casket is selected, the service is held at the Peebles chapel or a location of your choice, and cremation follows at the Peebles on-site crematory. Once cremation is complete, the cremated remains are returned to your family personally by a Peebles staff member, or arrangements are made for interment. Service-only pricing starts at $6,045 without visitation and $6,470 with visitation.

Memorial Service or Celebration of Life

A memorial service or celebration of life can be held before or after cremation, at the Peebles chapel or another location your family chooses. These services are free from the presence of a casket and can be designed around photographs, personal items, and tributes that reflect how your loved one lived. Life celebrants are available to lead services where clergy is not chosen. Service-only pricing starts at $4,905 without visitation and $5,330 with visitation. Peebles offers a $625 package discount when a memorial or celebration of life service is added to select packages.

Private Informal Goodbye

For families who prefer minimal services, the Private Informal Goodbye includes a brief private viewing for immediate family and direct cremation without a public ceremony or visitation. Total service-only price is $4,905.

Cremated Remains: Your Options

After cremation, Peebles can assist your family with keeping the urn at home, placing the urn in a columbarium niche at Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery in Oakland, in-ground urn burial, scattering at the Peebles Scattering Stream or another location of your choice, or packaging and mailing cremated remains within the continental United States for $150.

Peace of Mind Cremation

Cremation at Peebles is performed at the on-site crematory at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel and Cremation Center in Oakland, built in 2003. From the moment your loved one is in Peebles' care until cremated remains are returned to your family, they never leave Peebles' care.

The cremation process uses an 11-step care and custody barcode verification system that tracks your loved one at every step. Each person is individually identified through fingerprint archiving and a unique stainless steel ID tag designed to endure the high temperatures of cremation. That tag is secured with the cremated remains when returned to your family. The result is complete accountability from first call to final return, and the option for families to select fingerprint-based memorial pendants, rings, and jewelry through Peebles' fingerprint archiving program.

Storytelling by the Campfire

Offered exclusively by Peebles Funeral Home, the Storytelling by the Campfire experience invites families and friends to gather beside the lake behind the Peebles West Funeral Chapel in Oakland. Guests share stories and memories by firelight, with lawn chairs welcome and hot dogs and S'mores available. This experience is available for $425 and is open to any family Peebles serves, including Arlington families.

Scattering Stream

Peebles offers the first cremation scattering stream in the area, nestled beside the lake at the West Chapel property. Families can scatter cremated remains in a natural, peaceful setting alongside the water, creating an enduring place of remembrance connected to the land. This service is available for $295.

Peebles Signature Services

Peebles includes the following Signature Services with each family's arrangements at no additional charge, because every family deserves them.

Personally Bringing Your Loved One Home. After cremation, a Peebles staff member personally delivers the cremated remains to your family, coordinating the timing directly with you.

Family Follow-Up Service. In the weeks following services, a Peebles staff associate follows up to see if there is anything else your family needs.

Online Memorial Tribute and Condolences. Peebles places the obituary notice, photographs, and a tribute slideshow on the Peebles website, where it remains for years to come.

Floral Delivery. After the service, Peebles can deliver floral arrangements to your home or a local assisted living facility within approximately 25 miles.

Cards for Floral Tributes. Peebles requests duplicate cards from every florist for each arrangement, leaving one on display during the service and providing the duplicate set for writing thank-you notes.

Safe and Secure Accountability. Your loved one is kept in a secure, controlled environment and continuously monitored throughout their time in Peebles' care, with a detailed tracking system in place at every step.

Our Service Guarantee

Peebles funeral services and facilities are provided with honor, dignity, and respect. If your family is not completely satisfied with any service or facility offering, Peebles will reduce or eliminate that charge. Peebles states in the General Price List that it is the only funeral home in the area to offer this guarantee.
