Thomas Gordon Peebles purchased the funeral business in 1972. Michael and Jennifer Tilghman carry that tradition forward today, having acquired the funeral homes, cemetery, and cremation center on May 30, 2014. Peebles is one of the few remaining family-owned funeral homes in West Tennessee, operating two chapel facilities and Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery, all along U.S. Highway 64.

Traditional Funeral Service Followed by Cremation

Family and friends are invited to visitation and a funeral ceremony, held at our chapel or a location you choose. Your loved one is then transferred to our crematory. Once the cremation process is complete, cremated remains may be returned to your family, placed in a columbarium, buried, or scattered.

Memorial Service or Celebration of Life

A ceremony held before or after cremation, free from the presence of a casket. This can take place at our chapel, a church, or another location your family chooses, arranged with photographs and personal items. Life celebrants are available to lead services where clergy is not chosen.

Direct Cremation

A private disposition without a formal service or ceremony. Direct cremation does not include a viewing, ceremony, urn, or cremation permit; those items are priced separately and may be added based on your family's wishes.

Permanent Memorialization Options After Cremation

After cremation, families may choose from several options for a final resting place. Keeping the urn in your private residence is a common choice, and we can help your family select the right urn. Placing the urn in a columbarium or niche provides a dedicated place to visit. In-ground burial of the urn mirrors the permanence of a traditional burial. Scattering the cremated remains in a location special to your loved one is another option, and Peebles offers a Scattering Stream at the West Chapel property in Oakland for families who want a designated natural setting for this final tribute.

Peace of Mind Cremation

If your loved one is entrusted to Peebles for cremation, they never leave our care. Our state-of-the-art crematory uses an 11-step care and custody barcode verification system, stainless steel ID tags designed to endure the cremation process, and fingerprint archiving. Your loved one is positively identified at every step from the moment they arrive in our care until cremated remains are returned to your family.

Fingerprint archiving also allows us to offer memorialization options including pendants, rings, and other jewelry choices. Once cremation is complete, the remains are placed in the urn of your selection and secured with your loved one's unique stainless steel ID tag.

Signature Services at No Additional Charge

Peebles treats the following as Signature Services, provided at no additional charge to every family we serve, because every family deserves them.

Once the cremation process is complete, we personally return your loved one to you, coordinating that delivery directly with your family. In the weeks that follow, a member of our staff follows up to check on you and see whether there is anything more we can do. Your loved one's online memorial tribute, including obituary, photographs, and a slideshow, remains on the Peebles website for years to come. Flowers from the service can be delivered to your home, typically within a 25-mile radius. We also request duplicate cards for every floral arrangement brought to the service, one to display during visitation and one set aside to help your family write thank-you notes.

Storytelling by the Campfire

Offered exclusively by Peebles Funeral Home: families and friends gather by the glow of a fire beside the lake at our West Funeral Chapel in Oakland to share stories and celebrate the life of their loved one. Lawn chairs are welcome. Hot dogs, s'mores, hot chocolate, and coffee are available. Let every flame carry a memory. $425.

Scattering Stream

A serene natural setting nestled beside the lake at our West Chapel, where families can scatter cremated remains surrounded by the quiet of the outdoors. The first cremation scattering stream in the area, offered at no large ceremony required. $295.

Our Service Guarantee

If you are not completely satisfied with any service or facility offering provided by Peebles Funeral Home, we will reduce or eliminate that charge. Peebles is the only funeral home in our area to offer this guarantee.

Veterans Services for Eads Families

For veterans and their families, Peebles includes the following at no charge with any traditional funeral or memorial service: coordination of Military Honors at our chapel, another facility, or a cemetery; one hand-pressed U.S. Flag; one premium wood flag case in your choice of available wood types; and one 6-inch U.S. Armed Forces Embroidered Emblem.

Peebles also maintains an ongoing initiative to collect retired American flags. Those flags are draped over veterans' caskets at the time of cremation as a tribute to those who served.

Funeral and Cremation Pricing Near Eads, TN

These prices are effective August 1, 2026, and are subject to change. Package prices are service-only totals for Monday through Friday and do not include caskets, urns, outer burial containers, or other merchandise. A weekend service fee of $445 applies to services held on Saturday, Sunday, or holidays. You may choose only the items and services you desire. No services are held on certain holidays; ask your funeral director for details.

Peebles offers two burial service packages for Monday through Friday arrangements. The Legacy Traditional Funeral with Visitation includes care and guidance services, transfer, preparation, a celebration of life service, visitation, service vehicle, courier vehicle, and delivery and installation of the outer burial container. The Peaceful Farewell Graveside Service centers on a committal at the cemetery. Both begin at $6,155 without opening and closing of the grave, and $7,140 when opening and closing is included.
